PANAFLEX Power Supplies

All PANAVISION cameras, except the PSR, operate from a 24 volt DC power source.

All PANAVISION camera to battery cables use the same 3 pin connector at the battery end of the cable (pin 1 is 24v+, pin 2 is ground) although the connector at the camera end may differ depending upon the camera and the model.

On PANAFLEX 16 (and on some PLATINUM PANAFLEX) cameras the power supply is attached to the camera via a 2-pin LEMO connector, the right hand one of three sockets situated at the bottom left hand corner of the right hand side of the camera. (Pin 1 is 24v+, pin 2 is ground.)

On other PANAFLEX and PSR cameras the power supply is attached to the camera via a 3-pin LEMO connector, the centre one of three sockets situated at the bottom left hand corner of the right hand side of the camera. (Pin 1 is 24v+, pin 2 is ground.)

Camera Power Requirements

The minimum power requirement is 21v. DC, the maximum 28v. DC. Under normal circumstances most cameras draw approximately 2 amps but in very cold conditions may draw as much as 9 amps.

The battery packs normally supplied are 10-16 Ah. Lightweight 4 & 6 Ah shoulder-slung, belt and onboard batteries are also available.

On the PLATINUM PANAFLEX a LOW BATTERY battery warning light, situated on the left hand side of the annunciator panel, shows when the power supply is low or inadequate (21 volts or less).

On the GII/GOLDEN PANAFLEX a green battery condition light, adjacent to the footage/fps display, shows when the power supply is adequate, a red light indicates that power is low (21 volts or less).

Camera Power Notes

The camera must NEVER be switched on or off by connecting or disconnecting the power supply. Use only the power switch which is located at the rear of the camera, the handgrip switch or the optional side or remote control switches.

The camera ON-OFF switch only disconnects power to the camera motor. It does NOT disconnect battery power to the camera.

There is always a small drain on the battery caused by the electronic circuits whenever the battery is connected.

DO NOT change the circuit boards or touch the electronics while the battery is connected.

Disconnect the camera from the battery during long breaks.
