The following is a list of some general guidelines when designing a touch-friendly interface:

Image When designing your interface, you should allow all basic or common tasks to be completed using a single finger.

Image Touch controls should respond to touch immediately. A touch control with even a slight lag, or one that seems slow when transitioning, has a negative impact on the user experience.

Image Processing that would otherwise reduce the responsiveness of the UI should be performed on a background thread. If an operation takes a long time, consider providing incremental feedback.

Image Try to use a gesture in the manner for which it was intended. For example, avoid using a gesture as a shortcut to a task.
