Planning the Game—“3D Gallery”

Here is the breakdown of the game that we will now create called “3D Gallery.” The game will be a 3D version of a shooting gallery at a local fair. The player will shoot at different objects moving around the game environment. The goal of the game is to find and shoot all of the moving objects. Here are the key points of the game:

• The game will be a first-person shooter, meaning that the player won’t actually be seen.

• The player will have a gun that will be seen at the bottom of the screen wherever the player is moved.

• When the player fires the gun (by pressing the space bar), a missile will fly out of the gun, moving forward and slightly upward.

• There will be five different types of items in the gallery.

• The targets will be grouped in five and will be constantly moving.

• If the target hits the ground, it will randomly be placed at another position in the sky.

• The world will have gravity and all objects will float to the ground.

• The world of the game will contain water and hills.

• The player will earn one point for every target hit.

• The targets will disappear when a bullet hits them.

• The game ends when all the targets have been destroyed or when three minutes have elapsed.

• Using the up and down arrow keys, you can move the player forward and back.

• Using the left and right arrow keys, you can rotate the player horizontally.

• The player will have 100 missiles but can reload by pressing the R key.

• The game can be paused by pressing the P key.

• When the game ends, the player will be presented with a screen instructing him how to restart or exit.

• When the game starts, the player will be presented with a Welcome screen showing instructions for controlling the player and the game.

• When the game is paused, a screen will appear indicating to the player that pressing the mouse button will restart the game.

• The score, time remaining, and bullets remaining will be displayed on the screen.
