Creating Textures

Textures can make the difference between a good game and a fantastic game. As mentioned earlier, we’ll be using a feature called texture mapping to wrap around our objects. Whether it’s a wall, a sky, the ground, or floating objects, most get their “feel” from the textures we create. The good news is that creating your own textures is a breeze, whether you’re creating them in PHOTO-PAINT or other graphics applications. In this section, we’ll create a variety of different textures for walls, terrains, skies, and other objects. The techniques discussed here are not the only options for creating textures, but they will give you a good foundation for creating textures in PHOTO-PAINT. Once you get more familiar with PHOTO-PAINT, experiment with different effects, brushes, and techniques to create your own textures. Start by launching PHOTO-PAINT and clicking New in the Welcome screen. From there, follow any of these steps to create a texture.
