Having a camera follow an object automatically is a common technique used by 3D video games. Whether it’s a race car, plane, or character, being able to automatically follow an object as it moves is the key to game play in certain programs. The goal of this chapter is to give you the groundwork for creating, moving, and switching cameras. There are several methods for having a camera follow an object, all of which are quite involved and are beyond the scope of this chapter. We’ll attack this challenge a little later on in the book.
