Goals | Install RAM in an eMac Install an AirPort Card in an eMac |
Introduced in 2002, the eMac is an all-in-one unit with a 17-inch cathode-ray tube (CRT) monitor and a PowerPC G4 processor, originally targeted at the educational market and later made available to the general public.
This lesson explains how to install additional RAM to increase overall system performance. You'll also learn how to install an AirPort Card to add Wi-Fi networking capability. The lesson focuses on the 700 MHz eMac (Original) model, pointing out notable exceptions for other models as necessary.
NOTE
Apple maintains an extensive online collection of instructions and videos for each Macintosh model's Do-It-Yourself (DIY) parts. End users can install these replacement parts and upgrades, as they require only a moderate amount of technical ability and common tools. This lesson covers some of the more common procedures; for a complete list of DIY parts, visit www.apple.com/support and look for the Do-It-Yourself link.
