Installing an AirPort Extreme Card
All G3-based iBook models have an internal AirPort Card slot for wireless networking, whereas all iBook G4 models use the faster AirPort Extreme Card. The cards are not interchangeable.
The following installation process is extremely simple. It presumes you have already opened the iBook following the steps on the previous pages.
1. | Flip up the wire bracket and connect the end of the antenna to the AirPort Extreme Card. |
2. | Slide the AirPort Extreme Card (logo side up) into the slot until you feel it snap into place. Make sure it is seated completely. |
3. | Press the wire bracket down to secure the card. |
4. | Reassemble the computer by replacing the keyboard and battery. |
5. | Position the computer in the upright position. Reconnect the power cord and remaining cables. Power on the computer. |
6. | After logging in, double-click System Profiler (/Applications/Utilities), then click AirPort Card in the hardware contents list. If you have successfully installed the AirPort Extreme Card, System Profiler will display information about the card. |
