In the previous lesson, you learned how to install memory and an AirPort Extreme Card in an iMac G5 (20-inch). In this lesson, you're going to dig deeper into the iMac G5, taking apart all the components necessary to remove a faulty inverter, one of several possible causes of an iMac that fails to produce any video signal (see Lesson 20, “Troubleshooting an iMac G5”).
In the interest of conserving space, reassembly instructions are not reproduced on these pages but are included in the service manual on the accompanying CD. Practice Take Apart and reassembly at your own speed until you feel confident that you can replace any iMac G5 component with skill and efficiency. Be sure to remove and replace the components in the given sequence.
If you are performing the Take Apart as part of an authorized repair, always return the components to Apple in the packaging provided.
