• Each iBook model has different Take Apart procedures that are explained in detail in that model's service manual. The information presented in this chapter applies to the iBook G4 (12-inch late 2004).

• Gaining access to a particular component often requires the removal of other components first.

• Whenever you work on the internal components of an iBook, it's imperative that you follow proper ESD procedures.

• You must unplug the power adapter and remove the battery to prevent the iBook from turning on during the Take Apart procedure.

• Some parts—such as the rubber feet on the bottom of the iBook—must be replaced, not reused, when you reassemble the computer.

• Be careful not to exert too much pressure when disassembling the iBook, as internal components are fragile.
