As you know, the Power Mac tower systems are designed for easy expansion by removing the side access panel to expose the majority of the computer's components and expansion options.

This lesson explains how to install additional RAM to increase overall system performance. You'll also learn how to install an AirPort Extreme Card to add Wi-Fi networking capability and to install an additional hard drive for more storage. We focus on the Power Mac G5 (late 2004) model, pointing out notable exceptions for other models as necessary.

NOTE

Apple maintains an extensive online collection of instructions and videos for each Macintosh model's Do-It-Yourself (DIY) parts. End users can install these replacement parts and upgrades, as they require only a moderate amount of technical ability and common tools. This lesson covers some of the more common procedures; for a complete list of DIY parts, visit www.apple.com/support and look for the Do-It-Yourself link.
