We can generate tables, as in HTML. An HTML table starts with the table tag. Each row of the table starts with the tr tag. Columns within a row start with the td tag. Alternatively, you could use the column heading tag th instead of the td tag. In this example, we have a small table markdown:

Tables are centered by default in markdown. We could have changed the table to be left justified using more markdown. We could also have put borders around the cells of the table by adding the 'borders=1' phrase to the table tag. Note that the column headings are bold by default.
