System disconnects—Each PV disconnecting means in
the system shall be permanently marked to identify it as a
PV system disconnect. [NEC 690.14(c)(2)]
Open energized terminals should say the following:

TOUCH TERMINALS. TERMINALS ON BOTH THE LINE AND LOAD
SIDE MAY BE ENERGIZED IN THE OPEN POSITION. (NEC 690.17)
Local code offices, inspectors, and the local utility have the final say in all instal-
lations. Labeling every appropriate component will enable the PV inspector to
verify proper conductor ampacity. They will also check equipment against draw-
ings. They will be able to confirm overcurrent device ratings. Labeling also allows
the user to compare system performance with the manufacturer’s specifications.
