Change the view to Right View by following these steps:
- Press Spacebar on your keyboard; that will show shortcut menu options on the screen.
- Select the Maya option, which will bring up more sub-options.
- From these sub-options, select Right View.

After the view is changed to Right View, the next step is to import an image to this view.
- Select the View menu in the panel's menu bar, and choose View| Image Plane| Import Image:
