Importing 3D Assets - building model

Once we have the required objects present in the game scene, it is time to import the 3D objects of the building.

You can download the FBX file of the 3D building for this project from the shared on https://github.com/PacktPublishing/HoloLens-Blueprints.

To import it into our project, right-click on Assets | Import Assets and select the FBX file from the download location:

Once the import is done, drag and drop the Office_bulding_fbx object to Object Hierarchy:

  • Scale up the building object to 2 for all the scale positions to get a bigger view, and that will give an excellent experience when you view through the device
  • Select the HoloLensCamera object in Object Hierarchy and change the Y-Rotation point to -180 for the front view of the building

Then, you can adjust the distance between the camera and building model as per your want. With this, our initial setup of the Remote Monitoring Solution is ready, and this is how it should look in the Unity Scene View and Game View:
