Dave chuckled.
“Well, what did you say?” Eliza pressed.
“I told her the truth. I said to her that I had told
the CEO that it was my mistake in not telling Claire or
Kirby about the system conversion and that I would
personally handle all of the issues and testing audits
until the demo module in Des Moines is up and is fully
functioning.”
“And?”
“And, you should have seen the look on her face!
Claire looked like I had just handed her a bunch of
owers. Kind of stunned . . . and pleased. It was hilari-
ous. She didn’t tell me what the story she had in her
head was, but based on her reaction, it probably wasn’t
as positive as the one I gave her.”
“No,” Eliza smiled, “I’ll bet it wasn’t.”
