Not all decisions are complex or require sophisticated negotiating skills. Some are really simple, and you can make quick work of them.
The quickest decisions are those that already have established guidelines and policies. For example, let’s say you want to hold a client luncheon to showcase your latest product. If you know you can spend budget dollars for it, and you have the money to do so, then you’ve met the two criteria to finalize the decision. In short, you went, you saw, you conquered—you’re done!
The point is, don’t waste time and energy on thinking about simple decisions. And don’t waste time battling over small decisions in group decision making, either. Concede where you can, make your pitch, and then let the chips fall where they may. In other words, don’t pull out a bazooka to kill a mosquito.
