Through Automation and DDE, you're no longer limited to working in one type of programming environment to present a solution for a client. By using these two technologies, you can give users seamless applications that take advantage of the data maintenance of a database language, the number-crunching capability of a spreadsheet, and the text formatting of a word processor. When you can't use Automation with the server application, chances are good that you can use DDE.
