Acknowledgments

First of all, I want to thank the Lord for helping me get through this process once again.

My next thanks have to go out to Scott McMaster for not only doing an awesome job of tech editing the book (again and again) but also filling in any holes in the new features of Access 2000. I know that the Data Access Pages chapter wouldn't have gotten finished without his help.

My thanks to Debra Dove, PM for Replication at Microsoft, for her work on Chapter 23, “Welcome to the World of Database Replication.” This was only one of three chapters I trusted with another person, and she came through flying, even with a busted hand.

The other two chapters I trusted with Stan “the Man” Leszynski, who I knew would come through (eventually). Honestly. I appreciate Stan for helping me out in spite of his overwhelming schedule, and having to take great care of his thoughtful wife, Joan, and beautiful kids, Stan and Jill. The two chapters were 24, “Moving Workgroup Applications to Client/Server,” and 25, “Developing SQL Server Projects Using ADPs.” You can reach Stan at www.LCIInfo.com.

From the Access team, I want to thank Drew Warden, Howie Dickerman, Dan Bien, Craig Unger, David Gainer, Jim Lucey, Larry Jordan, Richard Dickenson, Scott Oveson, Jim Sturms, and many others for putting up with my bugging them with questions.

I want to thank the folks at Sams for being patient with me—namely, Rosemarie Graham, Neil Rowe, Susan Dunn, and Dana Lesh.

Thanks to my readers of previous versions of Power Programming, students, and clients for encouraging and challenging comments that keep me thinking up new techniques.

Also, thanks to all my friends in the Office world—Mike Groh, Paul Litwin, Ken Getz, Cary Prague, Mike Kaplan, Mike Gunderloy, Mike Hernandez, and others. Their comments and insights are always enlightening and entertaining.

Thanks to my best friends, Mike Ausmus, Curtis Piefer, and Paul Emerson, for their friendship, encouragement, and reminding me about balance.

Special thanks has to go to the Barnes & Noble in Woodinville, who put up with me when my power went out, and when I just needed to come in to get away and write (with my latte of course).
