The Package Deployer is similar to the PowerShell Import-CrmSolution cmdlet and the bulk data import combined together with additional features and a user interface. The tool has a vast variety of options. For example, it can display a start and end HTML page, it can import reference data compressed in a ZIP file, it can upgrade solutions, and it can even import different language packs. Furthermore, the Package Deployer allows the execution of custom code along with your deployment to execute some automation logic during the deployment.
