Set the crop and, if needed, rotate or mirror the image. Set the black and white points with either Histogram or Auto Adjust. For warped originals, manually set the focus point on a key detail in the image.
SRD requires a second pre-scan. For that, the output resolution must be set to the final value. Set SRD to Expert Mode and configure Dust and Scratch Removal, as well as Defect Size. Check the preview window for defects (marked in red).
Fine-adjust Midtones (gray point) with Levels, tune brightness and contrast with Curves. Balance shadows and highlights with Shadow/Highlight.
Manual scratch removal for each individual image cannot be automated. Therefore, it is not possible to automate batch scans for black and white negatives. Currently, SRD cannot even be used with the JobManager. Alternatively, all images can first be scanned in RAW format, and the RAW data can then be edited in SilverFast HDR. This way, at least for step 2, there is no wait for the scanner.
