Although you had only two semesters of college, you know you are above average in intelligence. You learn quickly and are currently taking a course at the local community college in the elements of supervision. You become impatient with Joe as a supervisor (as well as with other employees), but as yet you have said little. You figure that if Joe stubs his toe or is moved up, you will be next in line. Meanwhile, if you sense a little hostility from your co-workers, you pass it off as unimportant. Your goal is to impress Supervisor Joe, Mr. Big, and their superiors.
Supervisor Joe and Mr. Big know that your personal productivity is substantially higher than that of others in the department, but you are not going to sit around and wait for further management recognition. You intend to promote yourself. Although you have been with the organization for less than a year, you hope to be the next supervisor, either in your own department or in another one. If nothing happens soon, you will exercise your Plan B and move to a competitive organization at a higher salary.
