Chapter 6. Five Irreplaceable Foundations

After you have finished reading this chapter, you should be able to (1) list the five foundations for good human relations, and (2) describe how you as a supervisor would put them into practice.

If someone offered you a free formula that would measurably enhance your appearance with little effort on your part, you would be skeptical. It would sound too easy. The same is true of the five foundations presented in this chapter. They sound too good to be true. Yet, these simple, somewhat obvious fundamentals really work and are recognized as irreplaceable by many management experts. They are easy to understand, are psychologically healthy, and, although they have been around for a long time, nobody has come up with a more modern or sophisticated substitute that works as well.
