Finishing Touches

Now that we've made it through all the settings that appear under the tabs on the right side of the Camera Raw dialog box, let's explore the four buttons that appear in the lower right of the dialog box (Figure 9.51):

  • Cancel: This button will discard any adjustments applied to the images and close the Camera Raw dialog box.

  • Done: This button will attach the adjustment settings to each of the RAW format images and update the thumbnails that appear in Bridge.

  • Open: This button does the same as the Done button, but also opens the image within Photoshop.

  • Save: This button allows you to save the selected images in one of four file formats without leaving the Camera Raw dialog box.

Figure 9.51. These four buttons are found in the lower right of the Camera Raw dialog box.

So, in general, click Cancel if you screw up and want to start over again, click Done if you want to keep the adjustments, but don't need to open the image immediately, and click Open if you want to work with the image right away in Photoshop. If you click on the Save button in the Camera Raw dialog box, you'll be presented with another dialog box full of options (Figure 9.52). There are three main choices; where to save the images, what to name files, and which file format to use. When you click the Save button, you'll be returned to the Camera Raw dialog box and you'll see a progress report appear in the space above the Save button that will indicate how many images have been saved and how many are still being processed.

Figure 9.52. Clicking the Save button will bring up this dialog box.
