YOUR OFFICE DESK
IS PILED HIGH
You watch a pile of paperwork on your desk
growing higher and higher. You can’t reach the
top of it, standing on your tiptoes to try to pull
down a handful so that you can get on with
your work. You feel desperately trapped—if you
don’t get through this pile, others will suer.
Action Talk to whoever has given you this work
and explain that you are exhausted. Don’t be
afraid of letting people down—it would be so
much worse if you had to stop due to illness
from fatigue. Expect sympathetic
understanding, or assert yourself to get it.
A GLOBE ON YOUR
SHOULDERS
A toy globe is perched on your shoulders in
the dream, and you stagger under its weight.
You hear someone moaning in misery, and you
face another day of looking after them, as well
as a dozen other responsibilities. There’s no
escape from this burden, and you long to throw
the globe away. But it stays rmly in place.
Action Reect on how much you are actually
carrying in your daily life. You may not
appreciate the enormity of the load you’re
bearing—or realize that it needs readjustment.
Plan ways you can lessen the metaphorical
weight on your shoulders.
YOU ARE NOT COPING
AT WORK
The pressure of work is driving you to take
desperate measures. You cut corners, miss
urgent appointments, and arrive at those you do
keep dressed in your pajamas. Your boss wants to
see you to review your work, and you know you
will be red if you haven’t secured more deals.
You wake up shaking with fear.
Action This driven schedule must stop! Weigh
the pros and cons of your situation—perhaps an
overlled home life is indirectly portrayed in the
dream?—and carefully mull over that mental list.
You are overwhelmed with the pressure upon
you. Find ways to ease the burden.
