BAGGAGE
LEFT BEHIND
Leaving baggage behind is an
uncomfortable situation. It could mean
retracing our steps, spending money on
important items that we already own in
order to go forward. But dreams of this
nature can also carry a positive twist: we
speak of “baggage” when we refer to
neuroses. So if it’s left behind, that can
only be good news.
YOU LEAVE YOUR SUITCASE
ON THE PLATFORM
As your train pulls out of the station, you
realize you’ve left your suitcase behind on the
platform. It holds your dressiest clothes and
the only copy of a speech you have to make
on arrival. Instead of panicking, you shrug,
order a cup of coee, and relax.
Action You have learned how to accept
whatever life throws at you. You know your
impromptu speech will go well and that
appearance is unimportant. Celebrate the
dream’s conrmation that it’s wisdom
and experience that counts.
CLOSING THE DOOR
ON YOUR BAGGAGE
In this dream, you see yourself shutting the
front door of a house for what you know will be
the last time. Your problems have been
resolved; your worrying and obsessing are
neuroses of the past. You have left your
emotional baggage behind in that house.
Action This kind of dream applies to many of
life’s decisions—ending a relationship,
leaving home, nishing therapy—but knowing
when it is time to go it alone is an important
stage in your development. Be thankful for
the opportunity learned to strike out on
your own and pat yourself
on the back.
