PETS
The life span of domestic animals is
comparatively short, and pets usually
die before their owners. Each has a
character of their own, giving and
receiving aection. Theirs was
another heart beating nearby—
small wonder we nd such pleasure
in our pets. We grieve when it’s time
for them to go, but they often return
in our dreams, just when their
appearance is most relevant.

COMING HOME
You dream of your pet who died many months
ago, high-tailing it home just as she used to
do. Overjoyed at the reunion, you open your
arms to pick her up to stroke her. But the
dream suddenly ends; your beloved
companion has left you alone once again.
Action Take comfort from her reappearance.
The pain of loss may be hard, but never
forget that you had her aection for the time
you were together. That cannot die,
just as energy cannot die.
A HEALING
MIDNIGHT VISIT
In your dream, you hear scratching at your
door at night—it sounds like an animal’s
request to be let in. You climb out of bed and
cautiously open the door. Standing there is a
dog you know to be dead in reality. Yet here he
is, alive and well.
Action Deceased animals are universally
recorded “visiting” people who need healing.
Have you been unhappy or unwell? If his
appearance cheered you, count it as a
healing visit. Be grateful this dog picked up
on your needs and somehow checked into
your dream world.
A DEAD CANARY’S
WARNING
You dream about a dead canary. The pet
seems to have died prematurely—had it eaten
or breathed something toxic? You go to its
cage and gently put the bird into a box, ready
to take it outside into the garden.
Action Search for signs of mildew or mold in
your home—the spores can become a health
hazard. Check the battery in your carbon
monoxide alarms, if you have them. Whether
it was your deceased pet’s warning, or a
dream triggered by a news item that day,
consider this a potentially useful hint.
