If you’re like most people, you probably have lots of notes littering your desk or stuck to your monitor, and they help you organize your day (or they would, if the notes themselves weren’t so disorganized). Some of those notes are probably important enough that you’d have a hard time getting by without them.
You can get organized and clean up your desk at the same time by using Outlook to keep track of all your notes. Outlook provides a Notes folder you can use to create and view electronic notes. As with other Outlook items, you can print these notes, save them on your computer, and even stick them right on your Windows desktop.
This section explains how to work with the Notes folder in Outlook. You learn how to create and view notes, edit and delete them, and use different colors for your notes. You also learn how to cut and copy notes, print them (when you simply must have a hard copy), and attach them to e-mail messages.
As with other types of items, Outlook provides a folder specifically for working with notes. You can create additional notes folders if you like, or just work with the main Notes folder. The initial view for the Notes folder shows the notes as icons with the first few lines of the note text underneath the icon. When you click on a note to select it, Outlook shows more of the text.
Click the Notes icon on the Outlook Bar to open the Notes folder.
Choose Current View from the View menu, then choose Notes List. This causes the first few lines of each note to be displayed.
View the first few lines of the notes in the folder window.
For more information on creating other folders in Outlook for storing notes, see "Organizing with Folders".
