Working with notes is one of the easiest tasks in Outlook. Notes are little more than text files, and creating a new note is as easy as creating a file with Notepad or WordPad. Outlook opens an empty window when you start a new note, ready for your text. You can easily edit a note to change its contents or add more text. Finally, when you don’t need the note anymore you can simply delete it.
Click the Notes icon on the Outlook Bar to open the Notes folder.
Click New on the Standard toolbar to open a new note window.
Click the Close button to save the changes and close the note window.
To see how the note date and time feature works, start by creating a new note. Type some text and notice the date and time at the bottom of the window. Close the note and wait a few minutes. When you reopen the note you see that the time has not changed.
Outlook adds an icon to the Notes window for the new note.
To edit a note, just double-click on the note in the Notes folder. When the note opens, you can edit it just as you would any other text document. You are limited to keystroke shortcuts, though, because there are no buttons or menus in the note window. For instance, to copy and paste text, you will have to select the text, press Ctrl+C, move your cursor to where you want the text inserted, and press Ctrl+V. When you have finished making changes to the note, just click the Close button in the note window to close it.
