Chapter 11. Metal Mech Part 4

Well my friends, this is the last chapter! We have covered a lot of information regarding GameSalad and game development, but now we get to the part that every aspiring game developer looks forward to, preparing their game for deployment, selling it, and making money in various ways (aside from the app sales there's also iAd revenue).

Let's take a look at exactly what we are going to be doing in this chapter:

  • Preparing your game for the App Store
  • iAds
  • Game Center Leaderboards
  • Testing your game on a device
  • Upload your game to the App Store and make money!
  • Review

Putting your App on the App Store

You have come so far! Who doesn't get excited at this part? I still get excited when one of my games is released on the App Store! I just want to clarify that you aren't guaranteed to make bundles of money. Big game companies, such as the one who made Angry Birds or Cut the Rope are able to dump loads of money into advertising to get their name out there and they get noticed. Not to burst your bubble, but it's one of the biggest mistakes that individuals like you and I make when first starting out.

You think you are going to get rich and quick, but when you see you don't, or you see negative reviews, DON'T GIVE UP! It has happened to so many people, they make a game that they think will break the market as the next best thing, then when they barely make any money, or they see negative reviews they just give up, instead of seeing what they did wrong, or maybe advertising it a little bit. Ok, let's do this!
