Summary

In this chapter, we learned some tips on how to create some sprites using Photoshop and to design good-looking 2D sprites, save them as a PNG and import them into GameSalad. We also learned how to import sound effects and music into our game and trigger them within the level. We got into GameSalad's particle effects a little bit, by creating some torches with a flame and some smoke. Finally, we looked at some other options on creating sprites, such as using 3D Studio Max to create a 3D version of our character, texture him, and render him with lighting. We also created a better-looking platform image. Then we imported them into GameSalad, and replaced our old images with the new ones.

As we continue through this book, you will begin to see how much time GameSalad saves you, and how much fun it can be to develop with it. We are going to learn a lot more in this book, so buckle your seat belts my friend, it's going to be a wild ride! In the next chapter, we are going to start a game entitled Ball Drop. The chapter is going to be divided into two parts, so you can breathe in between and reflect on what we've done.

Next, we are going to learn how to create a fully fledged game, complete with physics, a main menu (better than the one we just did), and touch controls.

By the end of this chapter, you will have the canvas of the game finished, and then we will start to add the behaviors.
