1. Open a command window by clicking Start, typing cmd in the Search Programs And Files box and pressing Enter.

2. To release the current address, type IPCONFIG /RELEASE and press Enter.

3. To obtain a new lease, type IPCONFIG /RENEW and press Enter.

4. To make certain all is working, type IPCONFIG /ALL and press Enter. You should see a valid IP address, subnet mask, and related configuration information.

5. Close the command window by typing EXIT and pressing Enter or clicking the close window button in the top-right corner.
