Looking at Photos in Google+

To look at photos in Google+, click the photos icon in the menu bar. In the Stream you see a selection of images that have recently been uploaded from people in your Circles (as shown in Figure 8-1).

In the left-hand column you see the following options:

+ Photos from your circles. This option (the default) displays a montage of recently uploaded images in the Stream.

+ Photos from your phone. If you have a compatible phone set up to work with Google+ (I outline this later in the chapter), the images you have snapped on your phone appear here.

+ Photos of you. This option displays images that you (and other people) have indicated contain you.

+ Photos from your posts. This option displays the images that you have included in posts in your Stream.

+ Your albums. This option displays photos that you’ve organized into albums using Google+ and Google Picasa.

Hover your mouse over an image in a Google+ album and it expands slightly, and the album fans out to display the images contained within. Clicking an album opens all the images inside (click the Your albums link in the left-hand column again to return to the Your albums window).

How Long Do My Images Stay on Google? Google has set no limit to the number of images you can store on Google+, and the images remain as long as Google’s photo service exists. As long as you’re happy with Google+ storing all your images, you can use it as a free online cloud photo service from now on.
