There are seven types of permissions in MicroStrategy:
- Browse: Allows users to see the Object:

- Read: Allows users to open the Object editor (but not to make any change or save it):

- Write: Allows users to change and save the Object:

- Control: Allows users to change the ACL of the Object:

- Use: Allows users to use the Object as part of the definition of another one:

- Execute: Allows users to execute a Report or an Intelligent Cube. If this permission is denied to a Report component such as a Metric or Attribute, the parent Report will not execute:

When a user tries to perform an operation that is not allowed by the ACL, it will get an error such as the following:
