One of the few organizations committed to empowering its employees
as true ambassadors of the brand, Hewlett-Packard recognized early the
prevalence of presentations as a communication medium and worked to
ensure that its templates and assets reflected its identity.
HP’s success with this initiative stems from the investment the company
made in communicating the logic and reasoning behind the system to
its employees. In addition to a comprehensive set of slide layouts, an
extensive set of guidelines serves as both a training tool and reference
for tens of thousands of people. The reasoning is simple: once employees
understand the logic behind design decisions, they are more likely to
consistently and accurately express the brand.

HP’s presentation system relies heavily on a set of templates,
a flexible color palette, and a dazzling asset library. The care-
fully culled photography included in the asset library reinforces
the HP brand perception, while the use of a strong grid results
in consistent layouts. Additionally, the availability of both white
and dark blue templates ensures that whether a presentation is
delivered to a large audience in a formal setting, or printed and
distributed ad hoc, HP’s identity always shines through.
