Creating a YAML pipeline

After saving your YAML file in a repository, you can create a build definition from it. When creating a new build definition (see the Creating a build definition section of this chapter), you should go through the following steps:

  1. Choose the Azure Repos Git YAML option when the wizard starts.
  2. From here, go through the wizard to select and review the YAML you want to build, as in the following screenshot:

  1. In the first step, you locate the repository that contains the YAML file that you want to use as your pipeline.
  2. Next, you configure the pipeline by choosing an example YAML file to start from or by referring to an already existing file.
  3. Finally, you can review the YAML file that you have selected and start a build from it.

Your pipeline is saved automatically. Once the pipeline is saved, it can be started and you can interact with it in the same way as you would with classic build pipelines.
