It is a very common scenario to have to connect to one or more external services from within a runbook. A common example is the Azure Resource Manager that is used to manage all resources within Azure. To avoid having to store a series of variables and build the corresponding connection in a runbook, automation accounts allow for the creation beforehand of one or more connections.
In most scenarios, it is not necessary to create connections manually as they are provided along with a Run As account.
Once all of the shared resources are in place, it is time to start writing one or more runbooks, which is our next topic of discussion.
