Once teams start instrumenting their applications and adding alerts to metrics that they find important, it will not be long before the first alerts start coming in. At this point, it is important to not only respond to the alerts, but also to investigate them and then close the alert. Alerts should also be evaluated and viewed as an opportunity for learning.
