This section describes the hybrid-linked-mode testing functionality. To test the hybrid linked mode, perform the following steps:
- Log in to the cloud vCenter Server instance using the credentials specified in the Connection Information tab.
- Navigate to the hybrid linked mode configuration by clicking Menu | Administrator.
- Under Hybrid Cloud, click Linked Domains:
- Follow the steps on the screen to configure Hybrid Linked Mode:
- Add an on-premises identity source (Active Directory or Open LDAP) to cloud vCenter Server instance.
- Grant the cloud vCenter Server access to the on-premises Active Directory group (the one identified in the prerequisites):
- Link to the on-premises Single Sign-On domain (you are prompted to log out).
- Log back into the cloud vCenter Server instance using an Active Directory user from the on-premises Active Directory group. Both on-premises and VMC vCenter Server inventories should be available.
- Perform VM operations in both on-premises and cloud vCenter Server instances:
- Create and delete a VM
- Power a VM on and off
- Snapshot a VM
- Clone a VM
- Migrate a VM
vSphere vMotion is not supported between on-premises and cloud vCenter Server instances at this time.
