Naming Names

Ever have trouble thinking of a character name? Need a name for your baby or your new Betta fish? Try the name generator. Just choose Edit⇒Writing Tools⇒Name Generator (Tools⇒Writing Tools⇒Name Generator in Windows).

In the Name Generator window that appears, use the slider to determine how many names you want (Windows users, enter the number in the # of Names to Generate text box), and then click Generate Names.

For more options, Mac users can click the gear button to choose gender, ethnic persuasion, and other nifty tricks such as alliterative names (think Walt Whitman, Galileo Galilee, Marilyn Monroe). Windows users have access to additional options in the right half of the window, and also in the tabs along the top of the window.
