In this section, we will explore how RDS application streaming works from a Horizon client perspective. Unlike desktop pools, whose names are often created arbitrarily by the Horizon administrator, RDS applications appear much as they would in a Windows Explorer window.
The following steps outline how to use the Horizon Client to access application pools. In this example, we have already authenticated one of our Connection Servers using a user account that has been entitled to the application pool we created in the previous section. Perform the following steps:
- Use the Horizon Client to authenticate one of the Connection Servers in the pod.
- Click on one of the applications from the list presented in the Horizon Client window:
- The application will appear just as it would if it were launched from the client's device; when finished, simply close it as you normally would.
We have now verified that RDS application streaming is working as intended. While a given user can only have one active session on a given RDS host, Horizon allows users to stream multiple applications using a single client session.
