Horizon JMP combines features of Horizon, vSphere, User Environment Manager, App Volumes, and Workspace ONE to create an on-demand personalized desktop, without the need to use persistent desktops or multiple administration consoles to provision it all.

The following components work together to create a just-in-time personalized desktop:

• User Environment Manager: Stores user-specific desktop and application settings, persisting them across multiple devices, versions of Windows, and application instances.
• User file share: A file share that stores user data that is redirected from specific folders inside the VM. Redirecting folders reduces the need to copy files back and forth when a Horizon client starts or ends their session.
• AppVolumes AppStacks: Used to decouple applications from the virtual desktop master image, ensuring that users are only provided the applications that they need.
• AppVolumes Writable Volumes: Provides a destination for user-installed applications or for applications that require a local cache, since a writable volume appears as part of the local C: drive. Writable volumes allow these applications and their data to persist across Horizon client sessions, even when using Instant Clone desktops.
• vSphere Instant Clones: Used to rapidly clone both the memory and the disk of a running parent VM, allowing non-persistent desktops to be delivered on-demand with very little wait time. Since user-persona data, user files, and applications (both assigned and user installed) are decoupled from the desktop, there is no need to retain the contents of the desktop when the Horizon client logs off.

While Workspace ONE does not play a role in delivering Horizon infrastructure-hosted resources, it provides users a single workspace from which to access all of their applications or other critical resources.
