Installing App Volumes Manager server

The App Volumes Manager server software is deployed using the product ISO file, which is named in a format similar to VMware_AppVolumes_vXXXX.iso.

The following steps outline the installation process:

  1. Mount the App Volumes ISO on the App Volumes Manager host server.
  2. From the server console, browse to the ISO Installation folder and then execute setup.exe to begin the App Volumes installation process. 
  3. In the VMware App Volumes Installation Wizard window, click Next >.
  4. In the License Agreement window, accept the license agreement and then click Next>.
  5. In the App Volumes Install Screen window, click the Install App Volumes Manager radio checkbox and then click Install.
  6. In the Choose a Database window, click the Connect to an existing SQL Server Database radio checkbox and then click Next >.
  7. In the Database Server window, enter the name of the database server that hosts the pre-created App Volumes database, enter the App Volumes database owner user credentials, click Browse... and select the App Volumes database, uncheck the Overwrite existing database (if any) checkbox, as shown in the following screenshot, and then click Next >:

  1. In the Choose Network Ports and Security options window, it is recommended to leave all options at their defaults and then click Next >.
  2. In the Destination Location window, accept the default installation directory or make changes as needed and then click Next >.
  3. In the Ready to Install the Program window, click Install.
  4. In the App Volumes Wizard Completed window, click Finish. The App Volumes Manager shortcut shown in the following screenshot will have been placed on the server desktop as part of the installation process:

The App Volumes Manager appliance has been deployed, and is ready for final configuration steps. To replace the default self-signed SSL certificate, refer to the procedure found in the App Volumes Administration Guide (https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-App-Volumes/index.html).
