Qlik initially emerged from software that was installed on-premises, but has now transitioned not only to a subscription model, but also to being available on the cloud, to be consumed by businesses as well as by personal users.

This section will cover the cloud licensing model, its features, and some guidance to help you decide which model is most fit for your business, or your customers.

Depending on the requirements and the use case, Qlik is, at the moment, offering three different subscription models on the cloud:

• Qlik Sense Cloud Basic
• Qlik Sense Cloud Business
• Qlik Sense Enterprise in the Cloud

All three subscriptions provide access to the full scope of the Qlik Sense associative data engine, such as the ability to associate multiple data sources with a few clicks, visual data preparation capabilities, and the ability to create and explore analytics applications. The differences between the three models are the usage limitation, customizability, and the availability of extra features.

Naturally, over time, both the pricing and the feature offerings might change, but this chapter will cover the available options and functionalities at the time of writing, in February 2018.
