The paint() method is used to render the visualization. It will be called every time the chart should be rendered (for example, when new selections have been made) or when the extension was resized.

It includes two main parameters:

• $element, which is the jQuery wrapper that contains the part where the visualization is rendered
• layout, which stores data and properties for the visualization, including metadata, as mentioned earlier
