Millions of people learn each year that they should feel bad about doing math because, alas, they do not do it well. This is very strange. It would be such a different thing if you could dispense with the “doing it well” stipulation. If it could be taught some other way, then it would become a real conversation, one that anyone might participate in. It would become a common way that most people could communicate. People could make it a part of their lives. That proves a novel notion, of course.
