Infrastructure architecture

This section contains the Dynamics 365 CE infrastructure architecture. This is very much required if the client is using an on-premises deployment. In cases where the customer is using an online deployment, there is no need to provide these details, as no infrastructure is required for the Dynamics 365 CE cloud implementation. A Dynamics 365 CE on-premises deployment can be done on a single server or on multiple servers. The following is a typical infrastructure architecture for an on-premises Dynamics 365 CE deployment for a mid-sized organization:

We can see in the preceding diagram that authentication can be implemented using Active Directory (AD) authentication, and we can also implement an internet-facing deployment (IFD) using an Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) server. We can use different clients for accessing Dynamics 365, based on the requirements. We can also use dedicated servers for other things such as applications, databases, reporting, SharePoint, and email integration (as is shown in the preceding diagram). Based on the requirement and scope of the project, all the infrastructure details should be provided in this section.
