In this stage, we set up the scope of automated testing. While setting up the scope, a feasibility check for automated testing is performed to make sure it is possible to perform automated testing for the target system. In most cases, automated testing is planned once we have manual test cases. We can review the existing test case and can find out the feasibility of automating testing for the existing test cases. We perform the following activities at this stage:
- Identify test cases that can and can't be automated
- Identify modules that can be fully tested using automated testing
- Identify resources to use for automated testing
Once we have defined the scope for automated testing, we can move on to the next stage.
