Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility

Patagonia and Common Threads Partnership

Patagonia has long been a leader in environmental initiatives. As mentioned in the text, the company took out a full-page ad in major newspapers on Black Friday in 2013 to urge its customers not to buy a jacket from the company unless they really needed it. This action was in keeping with the firm’s initiative to reduce the company’s carbon footprint. The company publishes their actions on The Footprint Chronicles, found on Patagonia’s website. In addition, Patagonia started the Common Threads Partnership, which encourages people to take steps to help the environment by reducing the number of products they use and repairing, reusing, recycling, and reimagining products.
