SUMMARY
UML is a widely used modeling language that can be useful for designing and modeling a system.
It gives clarity on the inner working of a system by identifying and placing various essential
components. In recent years, UML diagrams have become very useful and a super powerful tool
to manage huge flows of data. In the early stages of UML diagrams, only the software develop-
ers and IT professionals were using UML diagrams to document models, systems and software.
However, now even the business people have started using them in their day-to-day work.
In this chapter, we have learnt the following:
• What is UML and how to use it
• Various UML diagrams such as Class diagram and Activity diagram.
In the next chapter, we will learn various IoT architecture choices from Four-layer architecture
to Seven-layer architecture. We will also learn about Hadoop and how to use it for an IoT devel-
opment project. In the end, we will explore the concepts of Fog computing, OpenStack cloud
architecture, cloud service model, and various topologies.
