How does System Work?
The printing process in the factory of Polibol is done by printing machine units that prints color
on color to construct the last image. Each printing unit in the factory holds a mixture of colored
ink and solvents that keep the ink liquid and coil impregnated. The products then go through
a drying tunnel to eliminate the solvent, placing the dry pigment. Now it is very important to
control the drying temperature as the ink is still not completely dry. Printing is a very high-speed
process by covering more than 200 meters per minute. Plus, we should know that temperature
might also aect the elasticity of the materials during the manufacturing process. This might
cause the ink not to get properly applied. The same thing applies to the lamination process,
this process consists of pressing all together up three layers of plastic or aluminum material
to achieve the sum of properties important to each final product components such as sealing,
visual impact, impermeability, and strength. The dying material must be monitored between
each layer of adhesive and each layer of material.
Controlling the temperature might require high accuracy in the readings and high sam-
pling rate. Plus, maintaining the temperature is super important as the costs of printing and
laminating machines could be very high. Thus, ensuring the right temperature control not only
protects the machines but also reduces the maintenance costs.
The humidity sensors are also as humidity tends to aect the flexibility of some plastics. Plus,
humidity can also change the behavior of printing inks and damage the final quality of the image.
Light Sensors are required to ensure a constant luminosity. It is periodically calibrated for
color analysis since color might appear dierent on dierent lighting conditions.
Capturing the Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) with sensors is also very important in
the process of laminating and printing. Various kinds of solvents are utilized that volatize while
the drying process takes place. Environment rules also explain that evaporated VOCs from the
solvents be held destroyed or recycled in a very controlled manner. These VOCs can potentially
pollute the atmosphere. Thus, sensors measure the VOCs and ensure compliances.
Hardware for the Project
The hardware for this project is relatively simple; it consists of four dierent types of smart
sensors and an advanced multiprotocol internet gateway. The sensors used in this project are
able to monitor wide parameters.
Smart agriculture: monitoring the temperature (x

Smart cities: monitored by microphone
Each smart node has been equipped with a bunch of sensors and electronics required to
control them. They are well formatted from the factory to adapt the special individual needs.
Each node might contain:
Battery,
A communication module 802.15.4, and
220 Volt adapters.
The smart sensor platform used in the factory supports an inbuilt battery which allows the
system to evaluate and send data even without being connected to the power supply. The attached
battery has a capacity of 6600 mah which makes it possible for the application autonomy for
